The first half of the book is very captivating. It's not really related to Brady Hartsfield. It's almost a standalone story. Very thrilling. I Recommend it for everyone even of they didn't read the first book.

Frighteningly suspenseful

Consumed this book in two lengthy evenings! No Ray Donovan, or The Wire which are my normal weekend binge watch time suckers. These characters feel like neighbors, family, friends and maniacal demons who haunt and hunt. I was transfixed. Even now I am compelled to titter out my tiny review while trying to stave off my Valium/ambien cocktail effects. Stephen King, you've had me since Danes macabre.

Edge of your seat up all night reading from my favorite author. Some of the stuff that King wrote after his van accident bored me. However, the Mercedes series & 1963 have me right back where I was after reading the Stand (my all-time fav): captivated reading!

Quite literally could not put it down

I haven't enjoyed a novel this much in a long time. There were stretches where I physically could not put it down. I actually am in the dog house with the girlfriend right now because I stayed up all night to finish it. King at his furious best, just an amazingly exciting page turner of a book. Bravo King.

This was the one of the worst books by S.King I have ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed Mr.Mercedes & had hoped this was a good continuation of the story with some of the same characters. I was very disappointed in the writing. The story line was engaging but the it felt like I was reading a grade school book with it's childish narratives.

Stephen King novel?

First... I thought Stephen King was a horror/thriller writer. Second... I thought he was supposed to be a good writer. This novel is a very simple story that I would expect a novice to write. Not too mention he inserts his political thoughts whenever he can in an already lane story. This was my first and last Stephen King novel. It is clear he just writes nonsense these days to make a paycheck,

I had started the Dark Tower series decades ago, and picked it up again recently, started from the beginning, and loved every page. I now “pace” myself, and read a King after reading two other authors. Finders Keepers is outstanding. I’ve been with King since I hid in my then-dirlfriend’s bathroom tub to finish “Salem’s Lot” and he’s rarely disappointed. In fact, I think he keeps getting better and better.

Doesn't Disappoint

Enjoyed it better than "Mr. Mercedes", which I liked very much. A real cliffhanger of an ending........although a sequel of sorts, don't feel like you need to read the first one. Works very well as a stand alone book.

If you liked Mr. Mercedes, may enjoy this one too. It has more chronological jumping, but doesn't focus on the main characters from the previous book. They're just support. I believe that this story was more frightening than Mercedes because stalking, raping, and beating is REAL, it happens everyday.

I would always give King's novels five stars. I've been reading his books since he started writing them and I'm never disappointed. Although I prefer more "literary" types of books, I will never miss a "Stephen King". I don't read any other horror writers because what's the point? There is none that will beat King!

Like a box of chocolates. So good that you want to finish them all at once. Had to slow down reading so that the book would not end too soon. Amazingly crafted. Like an unfolding movie. Some writers are pressured by their editors to pump out a book a year so the money keeps coming, even if the plot is paper thin and not worth reading. Stephen King is not one of them. This is a great book and King is a great writer. A terrific sequel to Mr. Mercedes. A must read if you are a King fan.

First... I thought Stephen King was a horror/thriller writer. Second... I thought he was supposed to be a good writer. This novel is a very simple story that I would expect a novice to write. Not too mention he inserts his political thoughts whenever he can in an already lane story. This was my first and last Stephen King novel. It is clear he just writes nonsense these days to make a paycheck,

I had started the Dark Tower series decades ago, and picked it up again recently, started from the beginning, and loved every page. I now “pace” myself, and read a King after reading two other authors. Finders Keepers is outstanding. I’ve been with King since I hid in my then-dirlfriend’s bathroom tub to finish “Salem’s Lot” and he’s rarely disappointed. In fact, I think he keeps getting better and better.

Enjoyed it better than "Mr. Mercedes", which I liked very much. A real cliffhanger of an ending........although a sequel of sorts, don't feel like you need to read the first one. Works very well as a stand alone book.

Like a box of chocolates. So good that you want to finish them all at once. Had to slow down reading so that the book would not end too soon. Amazingly crafted. Like an unfolding movie. Frighteningly suspenseful

Consumed this book in two lengthy evenings! No Ray Donovan, or The Wire which are my normal weekend binge watch time suckers. These characters feel like neighbors, family, friends and maniacal demons who haunt and hunt. I was transfixed. Even now I am compelled to titter out my tiny review while trying to stave off my Valium/ambien cocktail effects. Stephen King, you've had me since Danes macabre.

Quite literally could not put it down

I haven't enjoyed a novel this much in a long time. There were stretches where I physically could not put it down. I actually am in the dog house with the girlfriend right now because I stayed up all night to finish it. King at his furious best, just an amazingly exciting page turner of a book. Bravo King.

This was the one of the worst books by S.King I have ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed Mr.Mercedes & had hoped this was a good continuation of the story with some of the same characters. I was very disappointed in the writing. The story line was engaging but the it felt like I was reading a grade school book with it's childish narratives.

The first half of the book is very captivating. It's not really related to Brady Hartsfield. It's almost a standalone story. Very thrilling. I Recommend it for everyone even of they didn't read the first book.

King is such a brilliant writer and creates such amazing characters. This is a wonderful book, but you really must read Mr. Mercedes first. I can't wait to move onto the next book in the series.

Frighteningly suspenseful

Consumed this book in two lengthy evenings! No Ray Donovan, or The Wire which are my normal weekend binge watch time suckers. These characters feel like neighbors, family, friends and maniacal demons who haunt and hunt. I was transfixed. Even now I am compelled to titter out my tiny review while trying to stave off my Valium/ambien cocktail effects. Stephen King, you've had me since Danes macabre.

Edge of your seat up all night reading from my favorite author. Some of the stuff that King wrote after his van accident bored me. However, the Mercedes series & 1963 have me right back where I was after reading the Stand (my all-time fav): captivated reading!

Quite literally could not put it down

I haven't enjoyed a novel this much in a long time. There were stretches where I physically could not put it down. I actually am in the dog house with the girlfriend right now because I stayed up all night to finish it. King at his furious best, just an amazingly exciting page turner of a book. Bravo King.

This was the one of the worst books by S.King I have ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed Mr.Mercedes & had hoped this was a good continuation of the story with some of the same characters. I was very disappointed in the writing. The story line was engaging but the it felt like I was reading a grade school book with it's childish narratives.

Stephen King novel?

First... I thought Stephen King was a horror/thriller writer. Second... I thought he was supposed to be a good writer. This novel is a very simple story that I would expect a novice to write. Not too mention he inserts his political thoughts whenever he can in an already lane story. This was my first and last Stephen King novel. It is clear he just writes nonsense these days to make a paycheck,

I had started the Dark Tower series decades ago, and picked it up again recently, started from the beginning, and loved every page. I now “pace” myself, and read a King after reading two other authors. Finders Keepers is outstanding. I’ve been with King since I hid in my then-dirlfriend’s bathroom tub to finish “Salem’s Lot” and he’s rarely disappointed. In fact, I think he keeps getting better and better.

Doesn't Disappoint

Enjoyed it better than "Mr. Mercedes", which I liked very much. A real cliffhanger of an ending........although a sequel of sorts, don't feel like you need to read the first one. Works very well as a stand alone book.

If you liked Mr. Mercedes, may enjoy this one too. It has more chronological jumping, but doesn't focus on the main characters from the previous book. They're just support. I believe that this story was more frightening than Mercedes because stalking, raping, and beating is REAL, it happens everyday.

Excellent read, definitely leaves one wanting more though! Been a King fan since early 90s but haven't read much lately...this one was a perfect return to his darkly humorous writing. As usual the story has the perfect balance of humor, humanity and horror.

I would always give King's novels five stars. I've been reading his books since he started writing them and I'm never disappointed. Although I prefer more "literary" types of books, I will never miss a "Stephen King". I don't read any other horror writers because what's the point? There is none that will beat King!

Like a box of chocolates. So good that you want to finish them all at once. Had to slow down reading so that the book would not end too soon. Amazingly crafted. Like an unfolding movie. My first Stephen King novel. Never thought that I would find his writing so intriguing. I envy all who will enter this adventure.

Some writers are pressured by their editors to pump out a book a year so the money keeps coming, even if the plot is paper thin and not worth reading. Stephen King is not one of them. This is a great book and King is a great writer. A terrific sequel to Mr. Mercedes. A must read if you are a King fan.
